Situated to the south of the Tampa Bay area and to the north of Fort Myers, stretching across the shores of Sarasota Bay, lies the beach and bayfront city of Sarasota. It has a population of nearly 54,000 full-time residents, whose ranks swell during the winter months as seasonal residents make their escape from the cold climates up north and in the midwest.
